Three Young Auctioneers Fast-Talk Their Way into IJAC Finals

July 15, 2009, Overland Park, Kan. – Three young auctioneers were selected to advance to the finals of the National Auctioneer Association’s third annual International Junior Auctioneers Championship (IJAC) competition.  The three finalists will compete for the coveted title at 8 a.m., Friday, July 17 at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, Kan. The competition is sponsored by the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) and occurs during the 60th International Auctioneers Conference and Show.

The IJAC is open to youth between the ages of 12 and 18. The winner receives a $1,000 cash prize, trophy, and complimentary registration into the adult division of the International Auctioneer Championship (IAC) when he or she meets the minimum age requirement.  The first runner-up will receive a $500 cash prize and the second runner-up will receive a $250 cash prize.  All participants receive a medallion and most importantly, an invaluable learning experience competing against other elite junior level auctioneers.

Aaron Traffas, CAI, ATS, CES

Aaron Traffas, CAI, AMM, CES, is an auctioneer from Sharon, Kansas. For the last 22 years he's worked for Purple Wave. Aaron served as president of the Kansas Auctioneers Association in 2017 and on the National Auctioneers Association Education Institute Board of Trustees from 2009 through 2013. He is a past instructor at CAI and co-wrote the original ATS and AMM designation courses from NAA. An active contract bid caller, he has advanced to the finals in multiple state auctioneer contests. During the summer, Aaron operates a farm in south central Kansas. Aaron is an active singer and songwriter and the Aaron Traffas Band's latest music can be found at aarontraffasband.com as well as Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon.
